EDLD 5364_Teaching w/ Technology_Week 4_Reflection

In Week 4 of EDLD 5364, I learned how to use a collaborative approach to create a learning unit that helped our team solve the scenario for this course.  Our team members used a variety of technologies and assessments to reach the diversified learning population outlined in the scenario.  Pitler states, “now more than ever, technology allows students to collaborate on projects without the constraints of time or geography” (Pitler 2007, p.153).  I found validity in Pitler’s statement this week, because our team was able to “collaborate on projects without the constraints of time or geography.”
I also think our final products and team solution allows students to think differently and pursue their own interests.  Seymour Papert stated in the video Project Learning: An Overview, “the standard I like to see is thinking differently.  Is the individual having the right to pursue individual interests” (Edutopia.org, n.d.).

Our team chose to solve the scenario by creating a team glog that would assist an 8th Grade Science teacher.  Our solution and learning activities will allow the teacher to integrate technology to meet his/her Unit Objective:  The student knows that natural events can impact Earth systems (TEK 8.9).

The Learning Activities and Technology Products links contain additional resources and files that are embedded within our Unit & Individual UDLs.  Each member of the group also created eBooks that will assist the teacher in this scenario.

Here is a Wordle that I created to give a gist of this week’s readings and video topics.
